Fondue at The Melting Pot

The Melting Pot, A Fondue Restaraunt

The Melting Pot Looking to dip into something different? Get on over to The Melting Pot, Columbia's premiere fondue hot-spot, located on 1014 Colonial Life Blvd!

From my own experience, The Melting Pot always hits the spot! I, Kara Cool, just cant get enough of the fabulous restaurant and its unique experience. It's one of my favorite places because The Melting Pot is such a quaint, relaxing oasis that is hard to find in the hustle and bustle of the capital city! The memories you take with you from your untraditional dining experience leave you wanting more and more.

No matter with the occasion, girls night, romantic date, or a dinner with mom, you can't go wrong! The food is absolutely delicious and with its private tables, relaxed atmosphere, fine wines, and signature fondue, you'll be glad you chose The Melting Pot! You can check them out online now!

Fine dining, fun atmosphere. The guys who run Solstice are ordinary guys, but think that when it comes to food, everyone should splurge. Like the seasons, the menu is constantly changing! the wine list is constantly changing and Chef Ricky and the staff want you to come in and experience the changes with them. They refer to the cuisine as "New American," which means you can expect traditional courses with a twist.

You can register for our e-mail blast and we'll keep you up-to-date with Solstice's latest menu specials.

Wine in glass

Wine 101

What wines are best with your meals? For spicier foods such as Japanese, Sushi or Ti you might want to try wines with a little more acid in them, such as a Dry Riesling or the Gewürztraminer. With Italian dishes like pasta, try ordering a red wine such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or Chianti. Seafood goes well with red or white wine. With a heavier fish such as salmon, try Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. Beef dishes go well with red wines such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or a Rhone style wine.

What is the best advice for new wine drinkers? Know what different varietals of wine taste like to find out what type of wine is best for you! Read and learn about wine. There is a world of magazines, books and information on wines.

The Columbia Foodie's Sweet Potato Hash

Egg yolk drenched, sweet potato hash browns are like silk on the taste buds. The combination is such a worthy fit that it will now be a regular on my brunch repertoire. The crunchy sweet potatoes and the gooey eggs add an unexpectedly rich and fulfilling flavor combination. Make sure that the sweet potatoes are cooked through and the eggs are not or you'll ruin the recipe.
